THE REAL MEASURE OF SUCCESS

If money is the factor by which an individual’s success is measured, then every fraudster, drug baron, armed robber and corrupt official can be deemed successful.

Unfortunately in the society that we live today one’s financial earnings and display of wealth determines our regard and esteem of them.

One very wise man once said, “A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” A close friend once asked me what I would do if I had a million dollars given to me. I said “I would spend (invest) it on the many God given visions and dreams that would transform the society we live in.” My friend looked at me in utter amazement.

It is said that rich people do not work for money, but rather make their money work for them. I believe that truly wealthy people look for ways and opportunities of making their money work for others. Contrary to popular belief, the true value of a man is not measured by the duration of his life, or amount of dollars he has in the bank, but his donation to others in his lifetime.

Your life will ultimately be measured by the worth of your character and contribution to society. We have taken time and effort to chronicle the efforts of a few individuals who are making contributions to the society. Examples include Dr Myles Munroe who is helping to transform third world leaders and nations, Dr Christopher Kolade who is improving Nigeria’s image abroad and a Zimbabwean businessman who has a goal to transform the lot of teenagers in a year.

What is your measure of success?

An individual’s self-worth cannot ultimately be determined by their net worth. No one in their death bed ever said “Oh I wish I spent more time at work or with my bank manager” they usually say “I wish I spent more time with my family”

Let us endeavour to build our lives on what is important and not what is popular.

Enjoy
